ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO ACQUIRES WORK BY MMA

Michael Maltzan Architecture is pleased to announce that models and drawings from our 2018 Venice Biennale contribution, “Star Apartments,” have been acquired by the Art Institute of Chicago for its permanent collection in the Department of Architecture and Design. The acquisition was led by Irene Sunwoo, the Art Institute’s John H. Bryan Chair and Curator of Architecture and Design.

The project was initially developed for Skid Row Housing Trust in Los Angeles, and represents MMA’s innovative approach to urban housing solutions. Its inclusion in the Art Institute’s collection underscores the project’s significance in addressing contemporary urban challenges through architecture.

MMA’s work is also included in the permanent collections of the Carnegie Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
