CREST APARTMENT RECEIVES
2018 AIA HOUSING AWARD
Crest Apartments has received a 2018 AIA Housing Award. The permanent supportive housing project located in Van Nuys, California is just one of 11 projects selected this year in four different categories.
The Housing Awards, presented by the AIA Housing and Community Development Knowledge Community, celebrate the importance of good housing as a necessity of life, a sanctuary for the human spirit, and a valuable national resource. In their comments the jurors noted that “Crest Apartments does an excellent job of embracing and addressing every aspect of its location. It’s sensitive to its context, the scale of the street and adjacent properties. The project manages to achieve a strong aesthetic beauty with tight budget constraints and a program that requires both construction longevity with minimal maintenance cost. It utilizes extensive active and passive design features that embrace sustainability, low energy usage, and a healthy indoor living environment.”
